Over the past ten years, we have developedspecialised techniques for strengthening existing plaster in ceilings andwalls. Our approach is most relevant in situations where failure of theplaster would result in the loss of painted or otherwise significantbuilding fabric. Our goal is to work with clients who value the originalbuilding fabric for which they are responsible, and wish to retain it withminimal intervention.Limited Services ProvidedHPCS does not undertake re-plastering projects, and is not in the businessof reproducing plaster ornamentation. In unfortunate cases where someplaster has already collapsed, there is no better model for replicationthan the remaining plaster consolidated and secured to the structure. Non Destructive Testing and Conservation ResearchFor the marble clad postal hall of the 1930 Dominion Building in HamiltonOntario, HPCS has developed a method of re-attaching delaminated marblepanels to terra cotta substrate by hypodermic injection of acrylic resin toprecisely identified locations behind the marble. Ground Penetration Radaris being used to identify fracture sites and eliminate the need for removalof any of the delicate marble cladding. This project is in conjunctionwith UMA Engineering Ltd., Martin Weaver Conservation Consultants, andGeophysics GPR International Inc.
