Tax agent technology Survey 2008 The ATO is conducting a survey to assess the current technological capabilities of tax agent practices, to assist them in ensuring that current and future solutions are used and sustained. An invitation to complete the survey will be emailed to 2,000 randomly selected practices. Participation is voluntary.An email will be sent in advance to all selected practices. The Architecture of Australia’s tax and transfer system The Architecture of Australia’s tax and transfer system was released by the Government on 6 August. This is the most comprehensive examination of the tax system in more than 50 years. A Review Panel will set out a plan for consultation and key questions by the end of August 2008. The NIA invites comments and looks forward to working with members to tell the Panel what it thinks are key issues to be considered in the review. Tax agents may have already received letters from the ATO advising them that they have contacted one or more of their clients. It is possible that they may receive additional letters regarding this over the next few months.
