What
is catnip?
Catnip
is an herb and one of 3,500 species of plants that belong
to the mint family. In the United States 400+ tons of catnip
are used each year with 78 percent of the crop going to
cats!
Because
catnip is an herb, it does not require FDA labeling. Because
no medicinal claims are made, Kennebec River Company (a.k.a. "Catnip
Queen") products do not require FDA labeling.
Catnip
grows in the wild and as a cultivated herb crop. Cats are drawn
to the mint-like aroma of the plant and become playful when around
it.
