Benefits of Digital cable TV vs Dish Network and Directv
Let's start with what's considered one of the most important Cable TV advantages: Reliability! Cable TV is
immune to the problems that plague Directv, Dish Network and all other DBS satellite providers. Such as Rain fade, Cloud
fade, Ice fade, Snow fade, and as some former DBS owners can attest to, there's also a couple other fade problems. Tree Fade,
trees naturally grow and when they start to leaf you start loosing your satellite signal, which means chop another
tree or two down.
Also a newly coined phrase, Wind fade, it's not exactly the wind itself that causes the problem, but say
your watching the Super Bowl and your picture starts to pixelate {turn into checkered squares} during the game, making it
extremely annoying, it could be the wind blowing, bending the tree tops into the line of site for the satellite signal.
Thus a windy day = Wind fade. Directv, Dish Network and all DBS satellite gets two thumbs down for reliability. If you have
an extra thumb give it three thumbs down.
Cable TV or Digital Cable TV can function beautifully in all weather conditions, making it a much more
viable and safer choice in extreme conditions. With Dish Network or Directv you may lose your signal long before you
receive a warning from the weather bureau of impending danger, storms, tornados, etc. put your trust in Cable TV for your
family's safety because its a very reliable worry-free service! Just say Cable TV please! And Yank My Dish!
Rodney Dangerfield: "Yeah, I know I'm ugly...I said to a bartender, 'Make me a zombie.' He said 'God beat me to it.'"
To put things into perspective, THINK ABOUT THIS!
Just one small itsy bitsy cable, replaces all that junk on your roof, old antennas systems which may have
two or three antennas or even a tower. Also the ugly satellite dish or multiple dishes depending on local channels, HD
channels, or their so-called high-speed internet. One small cable replaces all that, and at the same time provides a lot
more service.
That one tiny cable brings you all these worry-free services and more. Your crystal clear Cable TV / Video
channels, High speed internet or cable internet. The Cable industry is the world's largest broadband provider of high speed
Internet access. In the U.S. alone it spent $100 billion over ten years to build a two-way interactive network with fiber
optic technology. Cable operators also provide state-of-the-art digital Cable telephone service to millions around the
world.
Many cable operators are already offering bundled services, known as Triple Play. This consists of cable
TV / video channels, high speed internet or cable internet, and Cable telephone services being bundled as a group which
provides a huge savings to the customer. Just think about it! One tiny cable replaces all that junk on your roof and
provides all these extra services perfectly! Cable TV - Your One Stop Shop! One Wire - One Bill
"What's the difference between beer nuts and deer nuts? Beer nuts are $1.50 and deer nuts are under a buck"
Cable internet, High-speed internet, Broadband internet
Cable internet has the speed we need, and many Cable operators are offering some very nice deals,
below dial-up monthly charges with no commitments or contracts. If cable internet is available to you, try it you'll
definitely like it! Think of the agony when using dial-up internet, type in a website with dial-up and wait for what seems
like an eternity for that webpage to load up, while twiddling your thumbs until finally the page loads up. That can all
change with Cable high-speed internet! Become more productive. The first time you try high-speed cable internet you'll
witness MAGIC, the webpage's/sites will load up instantly. Very impressive! Just think of the time saved, and the increased
productivity. Also you're not tying up the phone line and missing important calls.
Directv and Dish Network, High-speed internet??
Directv and DishNetwork as we've witnessed, have had failed attempts at a reliable high-speed internet
service via satellite in the past. It seems the current strategy is to partner up with Telephone companies that provide
DSL, just so they can say they provide the DSL service themselves. Dish Network and Directv like to pretend they're a Cable
provider! {Hey, nothing wrong with pretending} I'm sure most of their DBS subscribers also wish Directv and Dish Network
could provide the reliable services Cable TV has to offer.
As of this writing both Dish Network and Directv are partnered up with "WildBlue", which does provide
high-speed internet service via satellite, but it may be wise to do a little investigating on the search engines and forums
using some select words added to WildBlue before you commit yourself to the service. It's a long term commitment.
Dish Networks / WildBlue have a contract term of 18 months and if you disconnect in that 18 month period
there's a prorated cancellation fee of $450. The cost is $199 and that is for the equipment lease fee, you never own it.
Dish Networks Silver pack is $49.95 per month, with 128 kbps upload 512 kbps download. Gold pack is $69.95 per month, with
200 kbps upload 1.0 Mbps download. And the Platinum pack is $79.95 per month, with 256 kbps upload 1.5 Mbps download. On
top of that Dish Network / WildBlue use a dedicated dish for this semi high-speed internet service. This means another dish
being mounted to the roof. Again multiple dishes! How many dishes can one house take??
Marilyn Monroe: "Sex is nature, and I believe in going along with nature."
Cable Internet on the other hand is so much simpler, no long term contracts or commitments; you can cancel
anytime with no penalty. One of the great things about high-speed cable internet is the price and the speed! Some
introductory offers go for as little as $9.99 a month for 12 months, with our Cable TV bundled services its only costing
$19.33 a month which is 66 cents cheaper than our old dial-up internet and so much faster. That's for 3.0 Mbps upload and
download, twice the speed of Dish Networks $79.95 Platinum pack. But much higher speeds are also available with Cable
internet for those who download huge files, movies, etc. Digital cable TV, High-speed Cable internet, and Cable telephone
services all come in very reliably with only One Small Cable, One Cable - One Bill
Dish Network - In the Beginning.
Free local channels, Free UPN, WB, renamed CW Network
Cable TV offers free local channels when you subscribe to at least a basic programming package. With Dish
Network or Directv you have to pay up to $5.99 extra per month to receive your locals, and they may not even be available
to you in your market area. Cable TV also offers the CW Network for free in almost all basic Cable packages. CW Network was
formally known as UPN and WB Network. Dish Network charges an additional $5.99 for the CW Networks, which they call the
Superstations. How super is that? Even Directv includes CW in their basic package. Compare apples to apples and it always
comes back to The Cable Advantage!
Digital Cable TV: Picture quality
Picture quality on Digital cable TV, Dish Network, Directv, really depends on how it's hooked up, quality
of cables, and your television compatibility with your other equipment. It's recommended to use composite video cables, also
known as RCA cables, S-Video cable, or component video, depending on your equipment compatibility. Any one of these cable
selections will give you a very noticeable improvement over the standard RF input on the back of your TV. To be honest
picture quality between cable TV and satellite TV are both good when connected properly, but take into account the signal
fade issues with Directtv, Dish Network, and other DBS satellite providers and we are back to square one. Digital cable TV
will always be extremely reliable and superior to DBS satellite. That's just a fact.
Interesting and humorous remark by owner of Directv
As many of you may already know is in certain industries, a satellite in orbit is referred to as a "Bird"
which brings us to this next Tid-bit. Rupert Murdoch majority owner of News Corp. and also Directv, made some very
revealing remarks about the satellite industry as a whole, and also about Directv. As reported by Jill Goldsmith from
Variety Business, Sept. 14, 2006 Quote: "In a splattering blow to the satellite biz, Rupert Murdoch supposedly dubbed
DirecTV a "turd bird" and is considering selling News Corp.'s controlling stake to Liberty Media."
"News Corp. owns 38% of DirecTV, the nation's largest satellite provider, but Murdoch's been down on the
business lately. Cablers are successfully rolling out a triple play of video, Internet and telephone service that
satcasters can't easily match." "CNBC reported that Murdoch had made the "turd bird" remark." Now Rupert Murdoch calling
Directv a turd bird is a huge statement that basically says DBS satellite providers cannot compete with the Cable industry!
That Rupert Murdoch is a smart man. Cable Can! - Dish Cant!
Mae West: "A man in the house is worth two in the street."
