Toronto Restaurants Question: What's a good Toronto restaurant for a party of 10 to go to? A friend and I are graduating from university this October and our families might go have dinner together afterwards. What's a good restaurant in downtown Toronto we could all go to? We're looking for a place with nice atmosphere, decent prices (similar to Red Lobster pricing maybe), and a menu with good variety (e.g. grill, seafood, pasta). Pickle Barrel Grand would be great for its variety, but I've been there far too many times already. If you can suggest a restaurant similar to the Pickle Barrel that would be great! Answer: If you want something similarly priced, with a large menu and a unique atmosphere, I suggest Richtree in the BCE Centre. You can reserve your own European-themed room (they're all gorgeous) or just get tables inside. Basically, when you arrive, each person is given a swipe card. Instead of ordering food, you walk around to different stations - from seafood to omelettes to grilled steaks to fruit salads to imported beer to Chinese stir fry to desserts to fresh bread - whatever you can imagine. Then you order what you want, and the cute uniformed chef at the station makes it on the spot, puts it on your plate, and charges it to your card. You do this for the whole meal, and at the end, you give your cards to a cashier who rings them up and you pay. Basically, it's a restaurant styled like a beautiful European marketplace. It looks really pretty inside. Apparently there's even a summer patio right now. You can check out the website here: http://www.richtree.ca/ At the top of the page, there is a photo thing - watch them all to get an idea of what it looks like there. This is a pic of some of the rooms you can reserve for your families: http://www.richtree.ca/restaurant-images... Again, I suggest the BCE location because it's the nicest. My friends and I ended up there randomly once - party of 6 - and it was awesome. The service was good too, and the food was quick (and we stuffed our faces!). Anyway, good luck & congratulations on your graduation!   Question: Toronto Restaurant? Has anyone been to the CN Tower 360 Restaurant? How is it??? Answer: Restaurant at the CN Tower 360 The Restaurant at the CN Tower, one of Toronto's finest, features unforgettable food combined with a magnificent revolving view of Toronto more than 351 metres (1,151 ft) below. 360 offers market-fresh cuisine, featuring regional ingredients to ensure an incomparable culinary experience. 360 also features an award-winning wine selection of over 550 international and Canadian wines from its "cellar in the sky". 360 is the recipient of several awards and wonderful place to celebrate any special occasion. Elevation is complimentary with the purchase of a main course. Reservations are recommended and can be made online or by calling 416-362-5411   Question: Does anyone know of a Japanese restaurant in Toronto? I am looking for a Japanese restaurant in Toronto, Canada, where you sit in the traditional screened rooms and you have to remove your shoes and sit on the floor to eat your meal. I have found a lot of private screened rooms, but you don't sit on the floor. Your feet go under the table that is recessed into the ground. Answer: you could look into HIRO Sushi. I'm not sure if they have the whole works, but they are definitely the best in town for some upscale eating. HIRO used to be on Church, now has upgraded to King Street. He is the owner/chef. Always was a large feed and wonderful time.   Question: What's the best restaurant in Toronto for me to stage a romantic proposal? I will be surprising my girlfriend with a proposal in a week or two, and need some help. Which restaurants in downtown Toronto will offer me a nice, classy, quiet and AFFORDABLE dinner for two so I can pop the question? No CN Tower answers please, it's too cliche. Answer: La Maquette on King St.E. It is the BEST Fench restaurant in T.O. and prices are fair. www.lamaquette.com Or Auberge du Pommier which is in the Yonge/York Mills area. www.aubergedupommier.com Congratulations!   Question: Is there a restaurant in Toronto/Mississauga where you cook your own food with a small tabletop barbecue? Do it yourself restaurant in Toronto/Mississauga area? Answer: there is a Korean BBQ place by Dixie & Dundas, its got a pizza hut in the same plaza. sorry don't know he name...i can't read korean..   Question: Any recommendations for a good italian restaurant in Toronto for New Years? We live in Mid West Toronto - St. Claire and Dufferin but are new to the area and need some recommendations. Answer: Marcellos is near the south-east corner of St. Clair and Dufferin. Their food is good and their prices are reasonable for the quality. They're pretty popular though, so it might be tough to get a reservation for New Year's. There's another place on Bloor (just east of Royal York Road) called Big Papas. Their food is really good too, and the portions are pretty big. The restaurant is very close to Royal York station if you want to take the subway.   Question: Romantic restaurant recommendation for New Year's Eve in Toronto? I will be spending New Years with my girl in Toronto, looking for a Restaurant with a nice view of the city and the fireworks. Would also like it to have a lounge and dance floor... any suggestions would be highly appreciated. Answer: I am a former chef and "Yes" the CN Tower is nice, and Canoe at the TD Center on the 55th floor is great view of the city, if you looking for ncie hotel in that area, the Strathcona on York St is nice and runs for around $100 a night, and may have a package deal for you on NYE. There are bars and lounges in both venues, but there are a number on Front St and in the Entertaiment district in the Spadina and King to Univerisity area.   Question: Where is the best All-You-Can-Eat Sushi Restaurant in the Downtown Toronto area? Hi, I would like to find out the best All-You-Can-Eat Sushi Restaurant in the Downtown Toronto Area. Please make some recommendations on a great sushi restaurant to go to in downtown Toronto. Thanks, much appreciated! :) Answer: My wife and I have been taking our friends to Sushi Island for about a year now and everyone loves it. They have excellent sushi, nice atmosphere and a great location (nice bars/lounges nearby). The all you can eat is really good! Check it out if you get a chance. Sushi Island ---------------- 571 College St. W. Toronto, ON M6G 1B2   Question: Lichee Garden restaurant in Toronto had the best egg rolls. i am looking to find where they are now. if you? have information of their location or know a cook from there, preferably working in Vancouver, please let me know. if they cant be bought maybe someone can tell me how they are made. so you know, they were not made with a pastry style crust, at least it didn't seem like a pastry. Answer: I found a restaurant review from May, 2003. It wasn't a good one, though, so maybe the restaurant didn't make it after it moved from Old Chinatown. The review is from "Now Toronto," and if you click on the link, you can read the rest of the review...I just excerpted part of it. LICHEE GARDEN (480 University, at Dundas West, 416-322-8898) In a stunning two-storey modernist room decked out in chic, luxe chinoiserie, this newly relocated 55-year-old institution returns to its Old Chinatown roots. But glam digs are matched with with laughable, overpriced Cantonese schlock like battered deep-fried chicken bo-bo balls swimming in sweet 'n' sour sauce and soggy MSG-drenched chop suey with bean sprouts that were best forgotten back in the 50s. Complete meals for $35 per person ($18 at lunch), including all taxes, tip and a Singapore Sling. Open Monday to Thursday 11:30 am to 11:30 pm, Friday and Saturday 11:30 am to 12:30 am, Sunday 11:30 am to 10:30 pm. Licensed. Delivery. Access: barrier-free. Rating: NN   Question: What do you think of this idea of a restaurant/lounge in Toronto? We're thinking of leasing something in the university area. Around 6000 - 8000 sq/feet. It'll cater to the 21+ group. The decor will be very modern (black tables, beige sofas, and chairs, light coloured walls), bathrooms will be very tasteful, both ladies and mens room will have sofas, etc. Lunch and dinner; food will be European with Asian infusion, tables can easily be removed and provide more space once the dinner crowd is gone. Capacity will be around 100. Music will be on the mellow side, neo soul, certain hip hop, and raggae, jazz, and some rock depending on the crowd and mood. Answer: It sounds trendy, but its all about location. I think your idea is good, but you need to find the right place for your type of clientele. I would suggest Yorkville, Bay & Queen, Yonge & Eglinton or city center drive in Mississauga. That is where i see your type of patrons. You need clients with a bit of money who will pay for your type of ambiance. Good luck   Question: Does Switzers Deli Restaurant exist anywhere in Toronto anymore? As a kid growing up in TO, going to switzers used to be our treat after a day of shopping with our parents. I live in the states now, and when I come to visit in Toronto, would like to take my husband to this restaurant especially for the steamed knishes. Is there any other restaurants in Toronto that prepare knishes like Switzers did or does? Answer: I'm not sure if this is the same place but I found a listing for Switzers Deli on Canada 411. It's north of the airport if you're not sure where Torbram Rd. is located. Switzer's Airport Deli City Address : 7310 Torbram Road, Mississauga, ON L4T 3X2 Telephone : 905-671-0900 Category : Restaurants, Caterers Directory : Brampton, Mississauga   Question: Do Toronto restaurants let you bring your own birthday cake? I'm planning a birthday dinner in Toronto and i was wondering if most restaurants let you bring your own birthday cake in? Answer: I don't know a thing about the restaurants in Toronto, but most restaurants everywhere will let you bring your own cake in. I don't think anyone would have a problem with it.
